www.desw.gov.in/Scholarship PM Modi Scholarship Scheme 2018-2019 Class 10th/ 12th Applications Online: PM Modi Scholarship Scheme is for the children of Ex-Service Men all over the country. This scholarship was introduced in order to encourage the children of Ex-Servicemen in the field of education. The scholarship was introduced and named as Prime Minister Scholarship scheme. This scholarship scheme is initiated by the Central Government of India. This DESW Scholarship is given for those who do different courses under Graduation as well as Degree Qualification. The main aim for the PM Scholarship is to provide financial support to the students who belong to the economically backward background. The Department of Ex Servicemen will provide the scholarship to the students for every academic year. 

The Department of Ex-servicemen keeping the view of Ex servicemen and widow population increasing, there were many demands from various associations and sectors for a separate department to look for the welfare of the Ex servicemen. The final decision was made in 1986 to create a new department of the Defense for resettling division. 

About DESW:

Department of Ex servicemen Welfare was started on 22nd of September 2004. It was started by the Ministry of Defense with a purpose of welfare for the Ex servicemen and their dependents living in the country. Dependents are children, wife, etc.

A Department of Ex serviceman Welfare is an authority for providing the scholarship. All the children and widows of the Ex servicemen can apply for the scholarship provided under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme. The departments in the Ex servicemen are Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guards and other Military services. Children need to complete their 10th or 12th/ Diploma to avail the scholarship. A minimum of 60% score is needed for the children to apply for the scholarship from the Department of Ex servicemen Welfare. 

Scholarship Scheme by the Department of Ex servicemen Welfare is given for the students upto the course of Bachelor Degree such as…. 

BE (Bachelor of Engineering)

B.Tech (Bachelor of technology)

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration)

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications)

BDA (Bachelor of Dental Sciences)

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education)

B.PHARMA (Bachelor of Pharmacy), Etc.

The scholarship is not provided for the students who are pursuing their Master’s Degree. 

Documents need to be submitted for availing the DESW:

Birth Certificate (Date of Birth on the certificate and on the 10th class memo should be same).

Copy of the Ex-servicemen Certificate.

Copy of PPO (Pension Payment Order) issued at the time of retirement of the servicemen.

The first page of the Bank Account Pass Book. Account must be only in the State Bank of India (SBI) or Punjab National Bank (PNB).

Copies of study certificates for 10th and 12th classes.

A cancelled cheque of bank account including the details of the bank account number.

For successful submission of the application to the Department of Ex-servicemen Welfare, the amount is deposited into the bank account as follows:

Rs. 2,000 is for the boys and the total amount for the academic year is granted at the start of the academic year only.

Rs. 2,200 is for girls and the total amount must be paid at once only.

Students can renew the scholarship by showing the Bonafied if they are continuing their education in the next academic years.
